  • orthodontic appliances for children;
  • kappas.

For more information about each type of removable orthodontic appliances, read in the article.

Elasto-positioners

Elasto-positioners are occlusal splints designed to move teeth in sagittal, transversal and vertical directions. Controlled and effective correction of teeth is guaranteed by design features and strong production materials such as vinyl silicone.

Positioners influence teeth functionally and mechanically, and the devices are used to treat dental occlusion irrespective of the period (variable or constant).

Using the elasto-positioner is focused on:

  • The idealization of the occlusion;
  • Optimization of approximal contacts;
  • Reduction terms of using devices of non-removable type.

The need for cosmetic restoration of frontal teeth is the indication to application of positioners. This orthodontic device is usually used at night. Before putting on the positioner, the patient has to carefully clean both teeth and the device.

At the beginning of treatment, the orthodontist may prescribe using positioner for 2-4 hours during the day in conjunction with doing miofunctional exercises. The time needed to get used to the device is close to 7 days. It should be noted that the positioner cannot be cleaned by boiled water; this will lead to silicone destruction.

In what cases are elasto-positioners recommended to apply?

  • Wrong positions of separate teeth;
  • The narrowed tooth arches in the field of premolar teeth to 3,5 mm, and molar tooths to 2 mm.;
  • Crossbite / linguocclusion, vestibulo-occlusion ;
  • Retention and stabilization after treatment with the help of non-removable devices.

The age of patients for treatment ranges from 8 to 16 years.

REMOVABLE TRAINERS

A trainer is a device made of flexible silicone or polyurethane which is used to correct defects of bite. Muscles of the mouth train with the help of trainers, which effectively eliminates defects of patient's diction. Thus, the effect of trainer is focused on causes of abnormal bite.

Developing "the muscle memory", trainers reinforce the muscles in the correct position. Devices of rigid type can affect the teeth, eliminating not only the reasons of defects, but the consequences of abnormal bite.

An indicator of a trainer's hardness is the color of the device (blue and pink). The treatment is carried out in several stages. First, the doctor prescribes the use of a soft (blue) device, and then - hard (pink).

In what cases are trainers recommended?

  • Crowded teeth of the lower jaw in the frontal region;
  • Malocclusion by Angle
  • An open bite (frontal area);
  • A deep bite;
  • Abnormal position of the lower jaw.

In addition, trainers help improve incorrect pronunciation and improper swallowing.

RETAINERS

Retainers are strengthening constructions which are set on the inner surface of the teeth after the removal of braces. These orthodontic appliances are designed to consolidate the result of treatment and keep teeth in the correct position.

Such constructions are usually made to order. They are based on individual patient's data.

ORTHODONTIC PLATES FOR CHILDREN

Removable orthodontic plates are used if children have abnormal bite and defects in the period of primary and alternating bite. Depending on the design of the plate, they may be worn during the day or only during sleep.

Orthodontic plates are able to correct various shortcomings, from changing the width of the mouth to correcting jaw bone forms. The main condition for the successful treatment of the child through an orthodontic plate is the exact implementation of all the recommendations of the dentist.

OCCLUSAL SPLINT

An occlusal splint is an orthodontic device that mechanically affects the teeth and fixes some disadvantages of the bite. In addition, proper use of this device ensures alignment of teeth (if the case is not too complicated).

Occlusal splints are often applied to teeth after removal of braces when the patient’s teeth need additional fixing. Occlusal splints for teeth are made to order, considering specific defects of teeth alignment in individual patients.
